Any content you create would be coyrighted. If you draw a sketch on paper, take a photogragh, write a song. Its all copyrighted by the creator. So yes, the comedy would be copyrighted.

Under US LAW

"A work that was created (fixed in tangible form for the first time) on or after January 1, 1978, is automatically protected from the moment of its creation and is ordinarily given a term enduring for the author’s life plus an additional 70 years after the author’s death."

"According to U.S. law, at least, an author's original works are covered by copyright, even without a formal notice incorporated into the work."


Which means that when you create a work it is automatically copyrighted. you must surrender your copyright to place it in Public Domain.

"Copyleft may also be characterized as a copyright licensing scheme in which an author surrenders some but not all rights under copyright law."

Free software, such as those found in the GNU/linux world although they are free, the are still licensed. Though they state the software is FREE, it comes with restrictions.
Software under the BSD camp is more FREE than those under the GPL license.
