WS_FTP LE is a good program for your needs. It is free for personal and government use:
ftp://ftp.ftpplanet.com/WS_FTP/WS_FTP%20L...LE/ws_ftple.exe
Please does anyone know where I can get a free or freeware FTP Client to upload my websites, an older version will do. It is for Win 98, and a non commercial site. Thanking you.

FTP Explorer does not have all of the buttons and bells of WS_FTP LE but it has a very friendly GUI and is quick to download...Also extremely stable.Originally posted by Chico@Jan 19 2003, 03:13 PM

Well, WS_FTP LE does run on 95 (Although the newer WS_FTP Pro versions don't.)
However, there is an FTP program that ships with Windows 95. Just click ''Start'' | ''Run'' and type: ''ftp.exe''
This is a command line program that I haven't used much, but for help, type ''?'' to quit type ''bye''
You can see what the other commands are at the help screen.
Also, try the freeware program FTP Commander:
http://www.internet-soft.com/DEMO/ftpcommander.exe (I know it says demo in the URL, but it isn't.)
from website http://www.vista.ru/2inter.htm
I entered it and it took me to an Invalid FTP server.Originally posted by Tom@Jan 30 2003, 07:26 PM

Nevermind now, I got it open. But why is it usefull? I can't access directorys or enter a password using that program.
Assuming you mean the FTP Commander program, I can easily get it to access directories (just by double clicking on the directory I want to open) and to go to a password protected ftp site by clicking the "New Server" button in the "FTP Servers" frame, and then filling out the appropriate ftp server information (strip off the "ftp://" from your account info, if present)Originally posted by SSS@Jan 30 2003, 09:05 PM

If you are trying to use the Windows ftp.exe, then type "open ftp.ftphost.com" (where ftp.ftphost.com is your host) you will then be prompted for a Username and Password. Some sites may require you to type "user" and "password" instead of prompting. To change directories type "cd" and then the directory name, just as you would do in MS-DOS.
However, the "dir" command seems to be refused.
I recommend you use the FTPCommander program since the one MS provides is not very user friendly.
