I have 3.1 which came with my first pc, I am just curious about the earlier versions and have an old 486 to mess around with and load them on to.Originally posted by locustfurnace@Jan 10 2004, 03:49 PM
Not sure why you would even want those old version of windows, there is not much to them, If you find someone who sales them you might be better off getting Windows 3.11WFW, which would also permit networking.

I need win 3.1 for an old laptop to sell, Fast! anyone have?
Microsoft Windows 3.1 is copyrighted and a protected works which can not be distributed or shared. That is illegal.Originally posted by FAQS@ http://www.oldversion.com/faq.php
Why do you only have freeware and shareware?
This is not a "warez" site. We are able to legally distribute only freeware and shareware, since they are free.
Check out Recycled Software or ebay.com
Also, this has been asked for before. and answered many times, if you had taken the time to search you would have had an answer.

MS Windows 3.0 is a retail app, and can not be shared legally. It is still under copyright by Microsoft. If you had searched the forum you would have found this requested many times in the past, and answered all the same.
you can purchase a copy of Windows 3.0 on ebay.com or http://www.recycledsoftware.com/
If you want a free OS, you can download for FREE, "FreeDOS" from http://freedos.org/

Incorrect. Once Microsoft "retires" an operating system, Microsoft no longer has any ownership or distribution rights. Thus, you CAN put any version of Windows that has been retired online for redistrobution. As of December 31, 2003, everything below Windows Millennium Edition has been retired and no longer has any "free" technical support. Also, do you think Microsoft would give a damn if you put up Windows 3.x? :-POriginally posted by locustfurnace@May 30 2004, 11:28 PM
